An Unfortunate Event

A woman in our congregation almost died today towards the end of the sermon. Pastor was closing out his third and final point and he abruptly stopped and moved to stand in front of the pulpit. He then asked us to please join hands as we prayed for the woman struggling to live. We all know her well; she is one of the oldest members of our church. We prayed while the RN's tried to check her pulse and breathing. The rescue team came and she was lifted out of the church. She is fine now- it turned out to be a horrible reaction to a new medication she was on to help healing of her last surgery. I will never forget the feeling when it dawned on me what might be happening as she lay on the floor. I don't care who they were- dad, mom, kids, teens- not a dry eye in the church. I really was shocked at how I take everyday for granted. Every single breath as if it's nothing at all. I am thankful that she is alright now and stable, and am also thankful to the powerful message it sent out to everybody about taking life for granted. Tomorrow's going to be a good day.
